Mrs. Deray as she details how her path from unaffiliated to Chassidic Jewishness evolved. One of the outstanding stories started by driving by her rabbi and leaving him stranded with the belief that she was not allowed to be alone in a vehicle with him. Then there's the one about her husband, the gardener, who keeps manure in their nine passenger (to accommodate their tribe of 9 children, including a set of twins) van and how babysitters react to the odor.This book could very well be titled "The Lighter Side of Raising a Family of Eleven" for the way it brings laughter to raising a family and looking at the positive part of parenting and marriage. There was a study that showed reading happy and funny books or watching the same kind of movies help make a person recover from illness, live longer, and come out of depression --this is one of those books.

This book was like sitting down with your best friend over a cup of hot cocoa. Every chapter was funny, insightful and "real". Mrs. Deray has captured the essence of a well functioning, with a large dash of humor large family. Her insights into Jewish values was also interesting and informative. A book that once I started, I couldn't put it down. The illustrations were adorable.

This is one of the worst books I ever read. It uses tons of annoying metaphors to explain simple concepts at a high level without actually explaining them in needed level of technical details.Ten metaphors to explain what Blockchain is. Another five metaphors to explain what EVM is. A subchapter on explaining difference between Digital and Analog computer, seriously? With all due respect to Rear Admiral Grace Hopper, and I do mean it, what does she has to do with Ether? Nothing! Why is her picture taking half of the page?Finally on page 72 you get to section titled “Learning to Program the EVM”. But your excitement does not last long. This section starts with this sentence: “Sometimes it’s easier to learn a new habit than to break old one.” And then spends five paragraphs explaining what it means without making much sense.At last, on page 99 (you are past half a book now) you get to practical exercise of creating Token (a type of Smart Contract). There are a few screen shots, but none of them readable, was it so hard to make it figures bigger?To do that exercise you are required to copy and paste some code from GitHub. There is no explanation in the book what this code dose. The code is not reproduced in its entirety in the book; there is just fuzzy picture of it. Yet there is a clearly looking picture of Grace Hopper...This is where I am now, there a few more chapters to go through, if I find something useful in them I will update this review, but I hugely doubt that

It was very painful to read through the book. The author tends to write things he wants to talk about without considering what readers want to read. For example, under chapter title of "Mist Browser", he talks about many different things with very little touching of what a Mist browser does. Piles of paragraphs with no clear logical paths or relations are throughout the book almost everywhere.I was reading another one-star comment: "This is one of the worst books I ever read. It uses tons of annoying metaphors to explain simple concepts at a high level without actually explaining them in needed level of technical details." I cannot agree more. Lack of technical depths really made this book one of the worst I ever read, too. I wasn't sure how it could have gotten so many 5-star ratings. I guess it wasn't written for me.

Solidity is covered in just a couple of chapters. A kind of scattered writing format with a lot of introductory background. Not sure why anyone interested in learning solidity would need so much basic background info. But then again...it is titled as just an introduction.

The topics follow no logical flow. Topics are like headlines on one page and then three pages later a little detail, and then three pages later a little more detail, and three chapters later we continue with the topic. The book is an incoherent mumbo-jumbo of facts poured into a blender and dumped into this book. A Google search has a more logical flow on the topics.

It does not teach the programming language of Solidity which was what I was looking for. It teaches the general aspect of blockchains, crytocurrency mining, and what language ethereum is using. This is something you can learn in Youtube or Wikipedia.

Its a great read for a developer or CEO. strategic jewels come often, and its very thorough.the book has a huge amount of http links to great materials too.Its not a developer cookbook. But its very very good. Its what I call a Gateway book. Itlets you into the Ethereum "Room" and expands on all the technologies inside...its a crowded room!Is ethereum a success above and beyond bitcoin? neither tech addresses the fact that3 billion people in the third world cannot afford the bandwidth to use it, even if itsa light client that does not download the blockchain. A decentralized society will notbe achieved if nearly half the world's people cannot participate.

The first four chapters discuss how 2+2=4. The latter chapters repeat the first four and introduce about 1 poorly formatted code example and introduce incredibly simple programming concepts of any language, like what a boolean is.If you were looking for technical detail for the block chain or Solidity, look elsewhere.

The lack of clarity is really disappointing. The book is poorly organized and is not technical or rigorous.

This is a profound book and has genuinely changed the way I teach. The sad part is how long ago this book was first published, and how little has changed to reflect the research in the school system.

I found this very interesting, as it does contradict the popular theories of rewards for good work, for good grades, etc. I realized that I had completely "bought in" to this point of view, and yet it didn't match how I am motivated!I think the bottom line is that "do this and you will get that" is an easy way to administer both rewards and punishments. It allows us to be "consistent" without requiring us to go deeper in understanding motivation and behavior of our children or employees. It allows us to believe that we have used effective "discipline" - again without having to engage in uncomfortable or difficult conversations.Bottom line: Kohn makes a great case against "do this and you will get that." But the alternative is not as simple, and that is probably why we fall back to "do this..." so readily.

Interesting information. Worth reading! If you're going to read this, though, make sure you read the follow-up books for advice about what to do instead of offering rewards and punishments.

Not only is Alfie Kohn's "Punished by Rewards" insightful, witty, and a change we should all consider making in our lives, it is precisely what society needs. The unsettling reality of our world, our society, our businesses, and schools is one which we can't just cover up with platitudes, batons, and shiny cars. It's precisely this discomfort we need to embrace. Every educator, every parent, every person who cares about happiness ought to read this book. I won't punish you and I definitely won't reward you if you do, the reward is in the reading.

This writer turned many of my assumptions upside-down about how to raise and educate children, and even how to encourage employees in the workplace. It is a very well-written and thought-provoking book!

This was a great book. Even though it gave evidence of the many mistakes that I've made in raising children and being a teacher I realize now how valuable it is to learn new methods. From what we are challenged with by this author, we can move forward to help our children rather than control them.

I first read this book shortly after it was published, and it was the trigger for me to change the direction of my career! I had been a consultant in the arena of compensation programs for 10 years and was frustrated with the results - people paid my firm big bucks to put together pay programs that did NOT get them what they wanted, and I was a part of that. Kohn's book immediately made sense to me and I left that firm shortly thereafter.I am no scientist, but I certainly trust "good" science and find it triggers my thinking about what we can do differently. We are closer today than we were when Kohn first published his book to finding alternative methods of paying people that allow real high performing organizations to exist. It will be difficult for many organizations to change, but those who do will excel in the marketplace, I believe. I am in for the ride, thanks to Alfie Kohn. This book is super cute and fun to color in. Only several of the pages were stuck together. Not too badly and have little evidence of being carefully torn apart from each other. I feel for the trouble of having to separate several of the pages only takes away 1 Star.

pictures are fun to color wish artist would have left a margin around pictures so that the words wouldn't have got cut off on some of the pages the words run past the edge of the page so some letters are 1/2 missing other than that fun book to color.

Images are okay I guess but the book itself is very cheaply put together.

This is my all time favorite sweaty word coloring book! The pages are amazing and everything fits so well together.

This is a lousy book. The pages look hand drawn. And copied on tracing paper. Very disappointed!!

The back of the pages are black so the pages dont bleed. Love this book!
