We've all been in presentations that seem to go on far too long. We've also experienced "death by powerpoint." In this book, Tate provides practical and insightful strategies for keeping your presentations upbeat and engaging. More importantly, she also addresses the needs of adults learners and outlines specific processes and activities that will engage them. I highly recommend this book for anyone who conducts trainings or professional development activities where others are there to learn. This book will make you a better presenter and those in your audience will gain more knowledge and skills in return -- a definite win-win situation!

I absolutely love this book. I teach adult ed for a living and this book is so fun to read and has so many great ideas. I would love to meet the author. I am a District Technology Facilitator and Community Adult Educator. I have been teaching adults for many years but yet I have learned so much reading this book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who teaches adults. Excellent

Adult learning theory is handily referenced in this neat little book, and it's those references that are just as valuable as the advice Tate offers for the newer professional staff developer (or anyone who teaches adults). The interested reader can follow the research to explore the subjects more thoroughly. The theoretical framework pages are useful support for Tate's activities. Though some of the material and suggestions are a bit simplistic for the adult audience("...participants work together to create a song that shows what they have learned."), the majority of ideas can be easily altered to suit any level of inquiry required. It's a quick read, which is also helpful to time-strapped professional developers, and it explores the newest brain-compatible strategies as it inspires creative adaptation. I would recommend this resource as part of a working library, especially for newer staff developers.

Used Marcia Tate's strategies such as setting dates and a ball activitiy at our PD and the teachers loved! One of the principals said it was the best PD session of his career! Really great book to help liven up PD!

I had the privilege of seeing Marcia Tate present last month, and this book rings clear with her voice. I am surprised to see there are no reviews to date--this is a must-have resource for presenters (principals, coaches, professional learning facilitators, etc.) who see the power in brain-compatible instructional strategies.

Just like her other books, Dr. Marcia Tate takes her brain-compatible strategies and applies them to the adult learner. Often times adults are no more than big children and her techniques help to utilize instructional strategies to 'teach' the adult learner. Her ideas are great for professionals who provide professional development for the adult learner.

Excellent resource for professional development planners. I wish more presenters would use the strategies in this book. I can't wait to put them in action.

Excellent strategies and ideas for teaching adult learners.
