great book makes you feel good and gives one hope

I bought this book the day it came out. I've never read a book by Jonathan Morris but I'm really glad I bought it. Recently I've been going through major anxiety and depression due to personal issues in my life. I was searching for a book that would be easy to read and comforting to the soul. This book is both! I spent hours searching through Amazon books to finally pick this one.If you are suffering from worry, anxiety or depression this book is a must. If you're looking for a book that will comfort, reassure and reveal God's love and peace then please buy this book.

In a time when everything is unstable, keeping our spirit... heart and mind strong is a must. "The Way Of Serenity" by Father Jonathan Morris takes his readers to the spiritual heroes of whom they are already familiar with. If you are struggling with stress, failure, depression, loneliness or an overwhelming crisis, this book will be a blessing. The great thing about this book is that it gives real steps that you can do right now to help your situation and the way you think. Based on the Serenity Prayer -- it is written from the heart and offers Bible references and personal stories that offer hope and strength in difficult times. I had studied Acts of the Apostles before, but never thought about it the way Father Morris explains on P. 119. I especially loved the prayers at the end of each chapter. We can't live out the Christian life and find serenity on our own. We need the power that only comes from God. Father Morris' book offers sincere help on how to attain peace and serenity through trusting in God's will for us. Father Morris provides some meaningful insight for coping with the burdensome problems that we all face at one time or another. Very inspirational book! Thank you, Father Jonathan Morris!

My far from religious, thirty year old son, introduced me to "the Promise". Needless to say, I was surprised, no shocked,when I saw it was written by a priest! Then he read "God Wants You Happy"!As I enjoyed both books, I ordered the Serenity book without his recommendation. It is my favorite. It was hard to put down, as it just flowed with comforting thoughts. I will be rereading it many times over the years. Fr spends much time on achieving serenity, and has great suggestions.I have ordered a copy of this book as a Christmas gift, for a friend going through hard times, as I am sure it will help.Unfortunately, my son is still not a church-goer, but that he likes Fr.'s books shows their appeal to those who are not practicing a faith. For an easy to understand, but thoughtful book, I feel this book could be recommended to anyone. I will find out if my son has bought this one yet, if not, I will be back for another.

This book helped me get over a bad depression by the helpful and hopeful content.The author explains the Serenity Prayer so that the reader can accept the things you can't change, the courage to change the things you can and the wisdom to know the difference.

I love Fr. Morris seeing him often on Fox News, so I was ready to like the book. I've also liked the Serenity Prayer from the first time I heard it. The book was even better than expected. As you read it, you are reminded rather frequently to pray the Serenity prayer. I found myself doing it and the act of reading became even more calming and inspiring. F. Morris speaks of religion, of course, but he also includes anecdotes--some quite personal--to illustrate his analysis. He speaks, for instance, of his gay sister and the issues with acceptance in the family. That was fascinating. Sometimes we are advised to think of an issue in this way, he says, "will it matter--in a week, in a month, in a year?" etc. That's always a way to put things into perspective. But Jonathan goes a step further and says that in our heart of hearts we need to think in terms of this question, "will it matter in eternity?" The book might be a game changer.

By far the best book he's written and I have them all. I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling with finding their own inner peace and happiness in the midst of chaos called life. It really has made me a more peaceful individual and I refer back to certain chapters whenever I'm feeling tense/stressed and I just love the prayers he has at the end of each chapter! This book is a "must read."

It is a beautiful prayer about the Serenity Prayer that so many people struggle with during life. Fr. Jonathan is a wonderful writer and it brings the prayer to life with specific and current examples.

I love, love, love this book. I don't say I love to many things. Pastor Morris' writing, explanations and examples are spot on. I have been a frequent user of the Serenity Prayer for years. This book has solidified some of my own thoughts about that prayer and has also enhanced my understanding, as well. I'll be keeping this in my permanent library.

I’m not sure if I’m keeping this. Colors and price are beautiful but the chemical smell is quite overwhelming and I was going to use this for my students. Really too bad.

First of all these took almost a month to received. Then colors were not even close To the picture. They were very deep and dark.

This is beautiful paper! Great colors and excellent paper weight for any project. Two sided color paper makes great combinations!

For those of you who think that this is just some made up book of opinions, you're wrong! This book actual contains transcripts from the Vaccine and Related Biological Products Committee Meetings, historical reports, and science research data. Half of the book is about the findings of vaccine related issues and organizing them into different findings (there are 15) and the other half of the book is just the transcripts from where she got the information from so you can see for yourself. Who wants to inject their kids with cancerous monkey testicles? Anyone? Anyway, it's a good read! Quite fascinating if you're into science, DNA stuff, and disease, or if you just want to see what else is in a vaccine. If you are into taking vaccines, this is a must have book. It's important to be informed even if you decide you disagree.

Having read "Fear of the invisible" by Janine Roberts, I was prepared for what was to come in her next book. The Vaccine Papers should be read by every parent, by every government officials who are attempting to push mandatory vaccines in their state. It's been established that the CDC,the AAP, AMA etc are all just subsidiaries of the pharmaceutical industry so the world has no protections from this barbaric practice called vaccination. There are to this date in the works about 600 new vaccines from companies around the world. Vaccines are what's keeping many of these companies in business because in the United States vaccine makers have blanket immunity. That's right folks for those who don't know, you cannot sure a vaccine company if a loved one dies or is damaged by a vaccine. The pharmaceutical companies in the US, went to the US Congress and threatened in 1985-86 to stop producing vaccines in the US if they didn't have federal protection from lawsuits because they were being sued constantly because their products were killing and damaging people. So they got protection by way of a vaccine court: National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. It takes about 8 years to get a case heard. It's a TAX PAYER funded court, the LAWYERS are from the Justice Dept -the complainants and the governments and the complainant is not allowed to attend the hearing. The magistrate is also from the government. The vaccine makers can voluntarily give money to the fund. So the entire court is TAXPAYER funded. If the complainant wins their case, the compensation is paid for by the TAXPAYERS OF THE US. No liability to the vaccine makers. Some are winning and being compensated. To date the court has paid out over 3 billion dollars. If vaccine are safe and effective-why are these cases being settled?In 2002 the vaccine makers were given blanket immunity and because the vaccine makers had friends in congress they put the bill under the umbrella of Homeland Security and the Supreme Court wouldn't reverse it. Nice.Why am I posting this? Most people in this country are unaware this has happened. Also, because of this people need to know exactly what's being injected into their children and themselves. It goes beyond what the CDC has on their Vaccine Excipient list that's available to the public. "The Vaccine Papers" and "Fear of the Invisible" are remarkable because not only does Roberts provided web sites and actual transcripts of high government vaccine meetings, she names her sources. CDC, FDA, AMA-it you talked to her at these meetings, you're named in her book.I dare anyone to read "The Vaccine Papers" and "Fear of the Invisible" and come away chanting the mantra of the CDC/Vaccine Industry and the Pro-vaccine apologist mantra of "vaccines are safe and effective". From "Fear of the Invisible":"I next interviewed the top British expert on immunization at London University, Professor Michael Stewart of the School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I asked him; ‘Some parents are telling me they suspect their children have been made ill as a consequence of vaccination. Are their fears groundless?""I nearly fell off my chair when he replied: ‘What else would you expect? We all know the current childhood vaccines containing living viruses are dangerous. That is why I am heading up a team to develop safer vaccines.' He went on to explain that, with living viruses, there was always potential for some to mutate or to be insufficiently attenuated for safe use in the vaccine."

We have traded relatively mild infectious diseases, which prime the immune system for robust health in adulthood, for lifetime autoimmune conditions. The autism rate is now 1 in 45, 1 in 28 in boys. According to the CDC, 54% of our children have a chronic health condition. The folks who have promoted this should be in jail.

Then there are the toxins such as aluminum hydroxide, polysorbate 80 (tween 80), etc. The transcripts of these meetings highlights the ignorance that these people bring to the table.Definitely worth reading as well as her other book "Fear of the Invisible".

It’s called a novel, but it reads like a collection of war stories and essays about being an American soldier in the Vietnam War. That’s not a criticism. In fact, it’s part of the brilliance of this book. If it were thoroughly plotted, it might not feel so authentic. As war is disjointed, so is O’Brien’s book. Some of the chapters are tiny and some are lengthy. Some read more like essays than fiction, and others are clearly fictitious.When I say that “some are clearly fictitious,” there’s always a doubt that it might just be a true story--because war is just that absurd. An example that springs to mind is one of the most engaging pieces in the work. It’s called “Sweetheart of Song Tra Bong,” and it’s about a wholesome, young girlfriend to one of the soldiers who [improbably] comes to live in the camp. The girl acclimates to the war, and soon she is going out on patrol--not with the ordinary infantry soldiers, but during the night with the Green Berets. Perhaps the moral is that some people are made for war, and it’s never who you’d suspect. As I describe it, the premise may sound ridiculous, but the way O’Brien presents it as a story told by a Rat Kiley--a fellow infantryman known to exaggerate—it feels as though there is something very true, no matter how fictitious the story might be. Before one reads “Sweetheart of Song Tra Bong” one has been primed by a chapter entitled “How to Tell a True War Story,” which tells one that truth and falsehood aren’t so clear in the bizarre world of war.There are a couple chapters outside the period during which O’Brien (the character, who may or may not be the same as the author) is actively in an infantry unit. One early chapter describes his near attempt at draft dodging, and another talks of his time stationed at the rear after being injured. Both of these chapters offer an interesting twist in the scheme of the book overall. We find O’Brien to be a fairly typical infantry soldier, and it seems hard to reconcile this with his floating in a canoe and narrowly deciding not to make a swim for the Canadian shoreline. However, what is odder still is realizing how distraught he is to be pulled out of his unit, particularly when he realizes that he has become an outsider and the [then rookie] medic who botched his treatment is now in the in-group. This is one of the many unusual aspects of combatant psychology that comes into play in the book, along with O’Brien’s description of how devastating it was to kill.There are 21 chapters to the book. As I said, they run a gamut, but at all times keep one reading. It’s the shortest of the Vietnam novels I’ve read—I think. When I think of works like “Matterhorn” and “The 13th Valley,” there seems to be something hard to convey concisely about the Vietnam War, but O’Brien nails it with his unconventional novel. O’Brien also uses repetition masterfully. This can be seen in the title chapter “The Things They Carried,” which describes the many things carried by an infantry soldier—both the physical items they carried on patrol and the psychological and emotional things they carried after the war. It’s a risky approach that pays off well.I’d recommend this book for anyone—at least anyone who can stomach war stories.

This book just grabs you and won't let go. When you're finished with it it won't be finished with you. I was in the Air Force during the war - C141 cargo transport. I was never stationed in Vietnam but flying in and out several times a month. In with things needed to fight a war. Everything from soldiers to mop buckets. Out with the results. Air Evacs full of wounded, or cargo of 140 coffins filled with human remains. First book I've read in years that I didn't want to put down, but I was glad when it emded.

I bought this book for my English class. The story I had to read for my assignment was called "The Things They Carried", and after reading that one story, I had to read the rest. I wasn't expecting the emotional responses I had to each story. I felt as if I was there experiencing Vietnam with these soldiers. This is a realistic and very well written book.

This book has something that other books don't. The writing, the people, the words, the lack of words, a comma here or a period there. This book is amazing! I do not read war stories. For the most part I only read epic or space fiction books. Anyhow Tim O'Brien and his amazing way to write totally changed that. If you want normal length chapters, with normal flow of ideas and a organized story structure, do not read this book. As a Wildland Firefighter for the past 17 years, Harold Larson has fought hundreds of fires throughout Canada, the United States, and Australia. He has a Diploma in Forest Technology and has been a student of fire since he started his firefighting career at the age of 16. Harold was awarded the Australian National Emergency Medal that was established by Her Majesty the Queen for his service during the Black Saturday Bushfires.

I've always been fascinated by the Black Saturday fires at the same time I can imagine the pure terror involved in the tragedy. I enjoyed the author's unique take on the situation. Firefighters are heroes, and the author's experience as a Canadian being a part of the experience brought an interesting perspective into the situation.
